100th Post Celebration

100th Post Celebration

Here we are at 100 posts. A long way from Last September when I started this blog. Thank You all for being here and having stuck with me! I suppose its time to do some 100 post celebratory statistics!

In truth. I find a sort of interest in how these stats have been increasing together. At some point Insta will overtake my blog, but for now it’s nice. The fact, however, that we have 50 followers at the same time as 100 posts makes me happy.

More Book Challenges

More Book Challenges

To be honest I need to look into these next year at the start of the year, because then it would be a bit more fun. I have found a total of 5 (count them 5) new reading challenges! To add onto my OWL one for the year of 2019. These are full year reading challenges and as such, a bit easier to manage.

Myths I Like pt 1

Hello! Happy Wednesday everyone! We are beginning the second part of this blog series: Tropes, Myths, and Creatures. Part 2 is Myths and this will be broken down into 2 or three parts. The first is this general overview. The second will be about Arthurian legends specifically. And then if I get into a third part, it’ll be on what I don’t and do like in the use of myth and legends in stories. First, this week, overview!

Tropes I Hate

Tropes I Hate

Kill me with a spoon I hate these tropes so much. After writing the Tropes I love, with great difficulty, I decided to do the easier variant: things I hate. I feel like I can easily rant about things I can not stand far better than I can say the things I like. I will not get into ones I am apathetic towards.

For the ones I like, go here.

Without further ado.

OWL Readathon

OWL Readathon

Happy Monday Everyone!

I know that I traditionally blog on Wednesdays. Today is not a Wednesday. Today is a Monday. However, I felt a passion to write out something that I discovered just recently that has sparked my interest to read again.

As you may have known, I got into a book slump sometime in February. March was pretty slow for book reviews. I’ve been trying to get myself out of the slump to no avail and then I saw this readathon on Instagram (if you don’t follow me, do @themarlenamarie). It’s the OWL readathon.

Essentially it works with Harry Potter themes, using the O.W.L.s (Ordinary Wizarding Levels) as a prompt. More information here. I love Harry Potter and this readathon really sparked me to want to read more. As such I am going to attempt it to complete it. Not only that but I will be attempting to complete it now more than a week into the month, all while trying to read books I have never read before. (Spoiler IDK If I can).

Some of the books on this list you will notice are not in my preferred genre. That’s because they are my mother’s books. I told her about it and she recommended books. She may be attempting it as well.

Tropes I Like

Tropes I Like

I would like to start this by saying that you, as an audience, are terrible with filling out polls. Whatever, I decided to start with tropes. If you have questions, feel free to ask.

In general there are Tropes that I like as compared to tropes that I don’t care about or hate. I had to think of this for a while, and google some ideas of what tropes exist when I went into a blank. Because to be honest there are far more tropes that I don’t like than the ones that I do. I feel like I should make a post about tropes that I hate too. I guess I have a post for next week then.

So here is your comprehensive list!

March Review Archive

March Review Archive

This month was achingly small for the amount of book reviews I wrote. I’m sorry guys! I’ll try to do better next month (April)! I actually am going to try posting these on the first (where I live) and I failed for this month but next month, I’ll try to post April’s on May 1st.

A complete Archive of all reviews from the month of March (2019):

Total Number of Reviews :

        Books : 2

        Novellas : 0

          Series Reviews : 0

Blog Post Poll

Blog Post Poll

Outside of Alice, I love a few specific troupes and myths and creatures. I’ve decided that for weekly blog posts I will write about them all. I haven’t decided which ones to write about first and so maybe you all could help. Here is an overview of what I can write about.

Tropes I like; depending on what I have to say this may be a long post or short one.

Myths/Real life Mythos and Religions I like.

Magical Creatures that I love.

These are it for now. If you have anything else blog wise (outside of my book reviews) that you’d like to hear my thoughts on, feel free to comment in the poll.
