” Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together. ” I found this challenge/activity through the blog Kitty Marie (https://kittymariebookreviews.home.blog/) and I thought it would be a fun thing to try. Since I am so often without without a clue as to what to post over the course of the week. Without further ado…
“August 27: Books I’ve Read That I’d Like In My Personal Library (perhaps you checked it out, borrowed it from a friend, received it for review, etc. and want to own it yourself.) (Submitted by Annemieke @ A Dance with Books) “
You may be surprised, but I can answer this question. Surprisingly… Without any particular order (well except for 1)
10. A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irvin
I read this in my 12th grade Ap English Lit class. It resounded with me and my other best friend (girl who I never seem to talk about on this blog). We read it together and were the only two that did. I remember this meaning a lot to me, for what ever reason.
9. Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
Another book I read for 12th grade English. It’s my best friend’s favorite book other than Lord of the Flies.
8. 1984 by George Orwell
Do you see the trend?
7. Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
If you don’t see the trend, tell me. I will try to explain.
6. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner by Stephanie Meyer
I only own the 10 year anniversary edition of Twilight, The four books in hard cover, and two copies of The Host. It’s not like I need this in Hard cover to complete my set or anything…
5. Beautiful Creatures series by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl
If I told you I have no idea how this series ends would you kill me? I think I need to reread this series too. Unsurprisingly. Too bad I don’t own it! What a tragedy. If I did have it, I would reread it in a heart beat. I think… pretty sure.
4. Halo by Alexandra Adornetto
Ha! I never did finish this series, but this is a book that I know that I need in my library for the soul purpose of owning all the angel books that I read that came out in that era. (i.e. a lot). I do know that this is a series and I suppose that it would be interesting to see how it ends.
3. City of Lost Souls and City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare
Once upon a time I read the whole Mortal Instruments series, but I never did get around to owning books 5 and 6. I want to reread this series at some point, so I need these books.
On this note I do need the other books in the series if I find that I like it. (I have Clockwork Angel and Clockwork Prince since I did hear it was better, but I have not gotten around to them.)
2. Half a King by Joe Abercrombie
So I had this book. I had a great hard cover of it, and then my best friend lost it (which is kind of proof that I really should not let him borrow my books because he did that for Cursed Child too.) I think I need to get a new copy, so there is that. I’m not sure that this counts for things I’ve read but never owned, because I did own it at one point.
1. The Vast Fields of Ordinary by Nick Burd

Do you have any idea how many times I have tried to buy this book? Too many. Do you have any clue how many of those times that I have tried that I have been able to formally get the book? Zero. I have needed this book in my library from the day my best friend had me read it with him in HS. I did not have it then and I do not have it now. It’s even on my freaking NEWTs list (which by the way I will fail if I can not get it, so I might just have to get the kindle edition until my physical copy comes in… finally). Other that the sheer irritation that has come from the fact that I have not been able to get this book for years, there is no other reason that this would be ranked as number one on this list. UPDATE As of today, I finally have this, but I didn’t want to take it off the list >>
Honorable mentions: AKA books I want to own better copies of or more.
Harry Potter – All books in Hard back and Paperback
Their Eyes were Watching God. – My copy is severely water damaged better copy please.
The Lord of the Flies – my copy I got second hand and written in.
The Great Gatsby – Also second hand and written in.
That’s all I have for that. It may seem shocking to you but while I did have answers, this list was hard to formulate. For a minute there I wondered if I had enough. Eitherway, I was able to figure out ten books that I do not own in my vast collection of books (that I have already read). One day I will get them!
Until next time,
MM
