2019 Challenge Overview: Golden Trio

2019 Challenge Overview: Golden Trio

For more information on the challenge

Another Harry Potter Challenge? Who do I think I am?

A major nerd that’s who.

This one is a year long, and actually not that difficult to do. Although, there are some specifics aspects to this that I absolutely dread. (Like I don’t know if I’ll complete this because of how much I dread specifics of these prompts). Anyway, onward to this list. Like the Fantasy and Sci-fi one, I’ll update this list as I fit books into that specific category or prompt.

I would say my goal is to get Hermione, but with the prompts I dread (Audio-book, hello my arch nemesis) I doubt I’ll be able to. We shall see. In other news watch as I add in a bunch of Harry Potter Books to this because I want to reread the series (And I have to reread the first anyway). Anything in italics is planned out already. Because why not add the ones in that I know I’m going to read? They will no longer be in italics once complete.

2019 Challenges Overview: Dancing with Fantasy and Sci-Fi

Link to the Event

Alright, here we go everyone into the Fantasy and Sci-Fi Book Challenge that we all know that I’ll be able to do. Because what else do I read? The answer is: not much else.

As such I decided to join this challenge for books to read. It’ll keep me preoccupied over the course of the year (I hope). It also motivates me to get a lot of the other books I needed to read (or reread), finished.

I will fill this in as I read more. For now it’ll remain mostly empty until I have a book that fits the category of placement. Be sure to check back periodically (probably monthly) to see all of the books that I add!

May 2019 TBR

May 2019 TBR

This is the first time I will be doing anything like this, and I don’t know specifically if anyone really cares about what I am reading (or plan to read) this month. Maybe you do care! And you have cared! Well here it is, my list of what I want to read this month.

As a note I am trying a new format for this. If you like it, it would be cool to know. I know reading long lists of text can get boring, so if you like it, I’d like to know. Or it can be like my poll that no one answered resulting in me doing whatever I want, that works too.

April Reading List

April Reading List

May 1st! May Day. Two days until my birthday! (May 3rd) May is here and with it is the end of April. The end of OWLs. The end of waiting for grad school responses (which sadly were all rejections). And the official end of my one review a week. (I’ve read a few books this month we can say.) Just look at how many books I read this month! So many! Who knew reading challenges would do so much to help me get back into reading?

OWL Readathon

OWL Readathon

Happy Monday Everyone!

I know that I traditionally blog on Wednesdays. Today is not a Wednesday. Today is a Monday. However, I felt a passion to write out something that I discovered just recently that has sparked my interest to read again.

As you may have known, I got into a book slump sometime in February. March was pretty slow for book reviews. I’ve been trying to get myself out of the slump to no avail and then I saw this readathon on Instagram (if you don’t follow me, do @themarlenamarie). It’s the OWL readathon.

Essentially it works with Harry Potter themes, using the O.W.L.s (Ordinary Wizarding Levels) as a prompt. More information here. I love Harry Potter and this readathon really sparked me to want to read more. As such I am going to attempt it to complete it. Not only that but I will be attempting to complete it now more than a week into the month, all while trying to read books I have never read before. (Spoiler IDK If I can).

Some of the books on this list you will notice are not in my preferred genre. That’s because they are my mother’s books. I told her about it and she recommended books. She may be attempting it as well.

March Review Archive

March Review Archive

This month was achingly small for the amount of book reviews I wrote. I’m sorry guys! I’ll try to do better next month (April)! I actually am going to try posting these on the first (where I live) and I failed for this month but next month, I’ll try to post April’s on May 1st.

A complete Archive of all reviews from the month of March (2019):

Total Number of Reviews :

        Books : 2

My Love for Alice

My Love for Alice

I’m only writing this out after reading a novel about Alice in Wonderland and I… I felt empowered to speak about my favorite novel. I did not feel empowered to edit, however, and so it is coming out weeks after I read it.

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland was hardly the first book I ever read in my life. It was not the first one my mother read to me. It was not my first fantasy. It was not my first adventure. It was not my first classic. It was not my first anything, but it is my favorite.

In many ways this makes me extremely critical to any and all renditions of it in any medium. In the end, my favorite version is the original.
