July Updates

Hi Void Friends and Void Folk!

It’s been a while since I have blogged. I think that in the whirlwind of the year, a lot of stuff has happened to me, and in my life and I just… disappeared? Let’s start with the good news. I have officially been given the title of Managing Editor at my magazine. I am starting as a production manager at a startup lit mag. I am published (yay). I will be applying for my PhD this fall.

It’s been a really good year for me. And while I have not been able to do the sort of writing that I wish I could do, I have been able to continue to go further and to new heights in my actual personal life, career, and everything else. I’ve seen more of my friends, traveled more places, and in general not gotten sick (knock on wood).

But, in all of that I have come to the conclusion that while I think I could do social media well, I’m not sure that’s the path that I want to take for book marketing my novel. I’ve tried for the last few months to do TikTok, and while I can record videos every day, it ends up being more of a chore because I am constantly on the move for my jobs and what I am doing in the real world (so to speak). So, I think I’m going to refocus elsewhere. I always knew that people need to focus at what they’re good at and focus on the social medias that matter to them.

Thus, I’m going to refocus on my blog and YT. I’ve always been good at my blog and YT, and I personally think I can do both better. So I am. Short term videos are not for me.

That means! I’ll be posting more here, as bigger developments happen for my books and my projects.

Current projects in the docket:

  • Dark Academia/ Dystopia novel (First draft)
  • The Time In Things – Short Fantasy novel
  • Neighbor’s memoir
  • Poetry collection
  • Restarting the webnovel project.

I’m going to find more effective ways to market my books in ways that matter to my readers. I think that is so much better for me in the long term and long run. That means actually making a newsletter. Actually finding book marketing places online. Attending bookish events here on the West coast (and then hopefully throughout all of the US).

If you haven’t checked out my book yet, please do! The Preface of a Worthy Fable by Astrid Axton.

I hope you are all doing well. Thanks for sticking with me!

And as always!

Until Next Time,

MM

A.G. Flitcher Author Interview

A.G. Flitcher Author Interview

Hello Voidfriends and Voidfolk!

A bit about this interview:

This here is one of the stops for A.G. Flitcher on his stop of a virtual author tour. He reached out to me to do this interview to help promote him and his books. He’s an evening writer, cup of coffee, kind of person. He’s definitely been kind to me, when I have been rushing to deadline at my job (we have a week to print! SCREAMING). A.G. when you’re reading this, know that I swear I didn’t forget about you! Life is just sometimes chaotic and stressful ways. LOL. I figure you know that.

As you know, I always support self published authors on this blog. We celebrate their successes in a world where marketing to the masses is no easy task. I have asked him a couple of questions about himself and his process. Be sure to check out the links to his books, if he seems like an interesting author to you! If you read his work, be sure to follow on social media and remember to review if you can. If you like the books, talk about them! Nothing helps self published authors more than talking about them and their work.

Onwards!

Aftereffect Author Interview

Aftereffect Author Interview

Hello Voidfriends and Voidfolk!

Welcome to the Aftereffect Virtual Book Tour. I hope everyone is doing well!

A bit about this interview:

My name is Marlena Marie. This here is one of the stops for T. John and Jon Siniecki on their virtual book tour for their upcoming release Aftereffect. What is a virtual book tour? It’s the same as a real book tour, but instead of going onto TV or to speak at book stores, it’s all online. Their publishing house reached out to me to ask if they could get a spot featured on my blog. Of course I said yes! I may no longer be doing book reviews, but I do plan to continue to do book tours for smaller authors or self published authors. I’d love to continue promoting their books like I have in the past.

I have asked the authors some questions and you will find their answers below. Some are answered together, and others are individual answers. Congrats to T. John and Jon Siniecki for their upcoming release!

WOW. I read about half the number of books that I read last year. Which is lowkey criminal for me. I am going to try to change that for 2023, but who knows what the future holds for me. All the same. I will probably be backdating and catching up with posts for August-December of last year, within the upcoming couple of weeks so don’t be surprised.

Also, I did a worse job at keeping track of my manga/webnovels lists than I did last year. As such, I think I’m not going to post about them. Instead I’ll just try to do better in 2023.
