85 Days Until Release And the Uncertain End

Zeydar shook out his hands for the eleventh time. Luckily his hands were under the table and his nerves did not show to the entire world. The press conference was underway and Zeydar was about to go mad. He was supposed to speak any moment an he hadn’t expected the Superiors to call his bluff. He had no proof of their duplicity, other than the fact that he could destroy Ovaria on a whim. He couldn’t just go around destroying Towers.

He had hoped that they would balk. He had hoped that they would bend. He had hoped that with Kony and his tactics, that the fear would have been enough. With no word from the Superiors it seemed unlikely that they had. He had to come up with something fast. Estashia was coming to the close on her statements and Zeydar had to decide.  Without the proof he had two options. Would he betray his own or the cause? They could use the superior control over him to kill him. He had to believe it was possible, even if he had never seen it.

“Just say what you need to say.” Shawn whispered to him as Estashia closed and called Zeydar forward.

86 Days Until Tests And the Uncertain End (part 3)

Evester sat in his room, strumming on the guitar he had as he looked over the paintings he had made, repainted, and repainted. The room was a mess of oils and paints mostly blue. He sat humming with the guitar, making no particular song but the one that was in his mind, for no reason other than boredom.

Evester snapped his head towards the door where Rayda stood leaning against the door frame silhuoetted by the light. “Rayda.”

86 Days Until Tests And the Uncertain End (part 2)

Heia looked at the papers once more, rolling her eyes at the unnecessary use of words. It was made and built to make her bored. They wanted her to give up. It was made so she wouldn’t complete it all. Red pen in hand, she changed what was necessary in the contract. With Evester’s words, they had to get people to build more weapons. Children and the elderly were being sent to the Ships already built and headed to space. Those who did not need to give their lives for a cause that they were going to lose in the end.

They had to keep their people alive, and if by relocating them, they could do that, then they had to push for it. Heia continued to redline the contracts that the people would have to sign and the rulebooks they’d have to read. Equality and Equity would power her through the hundreds of papers. She would do it for them.

“Heia.” Kim leaned against Heia’s back. At first Heia thought nothing of it until she realized that Kim was dripping wet and was not wearing clothes. Her breasts pressed into the back of Heia’s shirt as Kim circled her arms around Heia’s waist. Kim forced Heia to put the papers far away from the wet hair.

86 Days Until Tests And the Uncertain End  (part 1)

Zeydar could feel Kony tapping his feet under the table. Zeydar wanted to tell him to cut it out, but he was nervous too. It was Kony’s first official dinner, and Kony was there for more than just the dinner. Zeydar would absolutely no control over his dinner, and so they had brought supplies. It had taken time, but Estashia had been able to provide them with tests to check if Dreams was in any of his food or drinks. It was a mandatory event and thus Zeydar could not say no and could not bring anyone along, other than Kony. Kony was not invited, as a student who was not yet a Superior. However, Zeydar had gotten the approval after a few minor threats of destruction. As the Superiors entered and sat down, Zeydar took out his supplies and tested his water first.

“What is that?” Majorie asked as she sat next to him. Zeydar checked for the changing color, and waited the full thirty seconds before he placed the strip away for further use.

“Tests.” Kony answered for Zeydar, as Zeydar sipped his water that was clean. Zeydar watched as her face paled just the slightest. Something was drugged at that table. A combination of things may have been drugged. Zeydar wondered if, for a moment, this was their expression for love. They sure were determined to control him. Their obsession was embarrassing.

87 Days Until Strategy And the Uncertain End

Evester stood watching Crass fight with Karla. Her fist flew towards Crass as they trained. Dodging, she moved over the floor, seeking him out and kicking towards him. Her actions were refined, quick, and better than they had been weeks before. She was a slow learner, but her technique was spot on.

“Kori always caught on faster with Kony.” Karla spoke up once she stopped moving. Evester was startled as she looked towards him. “Perhaps you think me cruel wanting to separate myself from them. But I can only become my own person if I am on my own.” He hadn’t even thought about the others. Had she been thinking about the others? Did she still think of herself compared to them even now? Evester never had the relationship the three had. He never bothered to compare himself to Europa and Endwin who were far unlike him. He wondered what it would be like to be forced to change and grow away from those you’d been born with. He could not. But she did, and she thought he was thinking of it.

“That’s okay.” Evester started down the stairs trying not to read too much into it. He approached them both. “Where are the soldiers?”

89 Days Until Attention And the Uncertain End

Heia sat in the room with the others, looking over her weapon and glancing to Kim who was nodding off against the bed. Heia counted each time that Kim’s eyes flickered closed and then popped back open. How many nights had she gone with limited sleep? How much more would she have to do? Evester had sent them a coded message: Begin the game, Kim. Heia still did not know what it meant but from then on Kim was different. She acted different. She was making plans and seeking meetings at a break neck pace, as if she had been waiting to be released for too long.

“Heia.” Kori called to her again.

Heia’s attention snapped to her sister in a second. “Yes?”

“Were you paying attention to me at all?” Kori asked.

“Unfortunately, no I was not. I’m sorry.”

90 Days Until Stress And the Uncertain End

Layla sat with Kony messing with his short hair making sure that it was cut to Superior standards, despite how she did not like it. It was still too long for Circle student standards, but Zeydar was not going to tell them. Zeydar knew she wouldn’t protest it, because she already had for multiple times Zeydar had asked for her help. She didn’t want her brother looking like a soldier when he was only a teenager. Zeydar could not blame her for it. She made his hair look great with her sheers, and his fade had a design going through it shaped like stars.

Zeydar wanted her to cut his hair. It had gotten long, and he had gotten many warnings from Majorie about it. He also did not want to get his hair cut to make more of a statement now that it did not matter.

“Any word from Heia?” Andre startled Zeydar.

“Only the usual, that she is actively trying to take over the X’s. Evester wants to have a talk.” And said that Zeydar is supposed to be taking over the Stars. Whatever that meant. He had been trying for months to get enough control over his powers to flip the bond on it self. There was literally nothing that he could do to do until he had better control over himself.

91 Days Until Bribes And the Uncertain End (part 2)

Evester looked over the information to give to the others. Uly flipped through the documents on his tablet, scanning them quickly, as Evester scanned his father’s hand written notes. Evester needed to know how to word it, how to release it. His mind was foggy from lack of sleep. He needed to rest later that night.

“This…” Uly put down the tablet.

“If you’re right.” Evester looked to his father, cutting Uly off. “They are going to put everything into this war.” Why had his father considered not telling– no, he had been worried about telling the world for it to be forgotten. This could be the end before the Uncertain End, possibly.

“We have less than thirty days.” Uly shook his head. “There is no way we can have all the bureaucracy behind us by then. We won’t have the ships done by then. We won’t have the moving done by then.” They would have to fight united. In thirty days. There was no way.

91 Days Until Bribes And the Uncertain End (part 1)

Zeydar sat in the middle of a public dinner, Stars and Circles greeting each other for the fundraiser. It was a feeble attempt to make money and an even more feeble attempt to try to make the rich and powerful feel needed in this time of crisis. This was this terrible attempt at trying to be rich again after Estashia had ripped their money away from them to fund the operation of saving the world. Zeydar supported Endwin’s suggestion to simply tax them all, but Europa and Estashia had overruled it and take it through a mandatory auction and fundraiser. All people had to donate a certain number, far above their taxes. Zeydar figured that it was because it gave them a power of using their money themselves. All the same it felt empty and showy.

“Zeydar Arcadius.” Graceon Phyn spoke from behind Zeydar. Turning, he found the man dressed in, perhaps, his finest. His hair was combed back. His eyes were clear. He wore a black suit, plain and ancient as if he had stepped out of a magazine from hundreds of years ago. He was handsome beyond belief. He had a glass of wine in his hands and stood with the other in his pocket.

“To what do I owe the honor?” Zeydar tried to smile. He stood to shake the man’s hand, but Graceon did not shake it nicely. He gave a limp shake that lasted minutes. They had never been friends, but they had known each other. They were in the same circles and May had been friends with his sister. It was not a good sign.

92 Days Until Darkness And the Uncertain End

Evester looked over his weapon in the light, a yawn on his lips and the taste of sleep on his tongue. When was the last time he’d felt this way? When he had been searching for Heiphillia the first time? No, after that. He had been on the run for too long to get good sleep. However, he had gotten sleep. After days of being awake Evester was starting to lose his mind.

He was snapped out of his thoughts by his father who had come to him in the day. Evester wished his father had assumed he, too, was asleep like everyone else assumed. “Yes?” He also knew his father knew that he was awake. Evester was unsure why he could not get himself to sleep. He had been unable to, since the Aralax attacks had happened. He had been unable to since he had started to understand the depths of his feelings and what it means.

“I’m running the projections.” His father announced upon arrival.
