Second Review of the day! Here you go! I was thinking on how I could have split all these up, once a week for the next seven weeks. I could have. I did not. Maybe I still should have, yet I can not go back now.
Here you go!
Customary warning: This is a reminder that these are my personal opinions. My thoughts and feelings are not your thoughts and feelings. I may not always be the target audience for a book; sometimes I am. If I do not like a book, that doesn’t mean you’ll dislike it. If I love a book or simply like a book, you may hate it. Take everything I say with this knowledge. If it sounds interesting to you despite what I’ve said, then go ahead and read it. You’ll only know you like something if you read it yourself.
That being said… Spoilers ahead.
The Fallen by Charlie Higson
Synopsis From The Book
The Enemy is among us . . .First the sickness rotted the adults’ minds. Then their bodies. Now they stalk the streets of London, hunting human flesh.
The Holloway crew are survivors. They’ve fought their way across the city and made it to the Natural History Museum alive–just barely. But the fight will never end while the Enemy lives, unless there’s another way. . .
The kids at the museum are looking for a cure. All they need are medical supplies. To get them they must venture down unfamiliar streets, where it isn’t only crazed, hungry sickos who lurk in the shadows.
In this fifth terrifying entry in Charlie Higson’s Enemy series, suddenly it’s not so clear who–or what–the enemy is.

Initial Thoughts Before Reading:
Here we gooooo. Into Maxie and Blue. Last we knew, Paul had set the grown ups inside the Natural History Museum loose. He also was infected. It’s not a good place to be for the group to be returning to, not at all. Let’s see who lives and who dies.
Initial Thoughts After Reading:
Wow, I got through that quick. Achilleus is a great character and seeing them trying to get medical supplies was so sad. Lettie’s journals were also sad. I’m irritated that Paul got away to David. However two more books. Let’s go!
Plot Overview:
Maxie and Blue’s group arrives at the museum, finding that it’s been attacked. The group sets off and clears out the whole building of the grownups, trying to figure out why they were set free. Four people died and one person was missing. They learn more about the museum and how Einstein is trying to find a cure.
Einstein convinces part of the group to go to a hospital for supplies. The group gets separated, into three groups. Lettie’s group has kids die. They try to bury them and end up being attacked. Lettie keeps a journal of it all.
Big Mick and four others try to find Blue and Big Mick and another die.
Blue, Achilleus, Ollie, Jackson (a girl fighter from the museum), and Einstein get the supplies. They also find a living grownup who speaks (like wormwood), and a bunch of kids who were infected in the womb. Blue gets them all to escape and they set the place on fire. Ollie, who found Lettie’s journal, realizes she’s alive and saves her.
At the museum, Maxie and the others realize Paul set the grown ups and he’s attacking kids. They chase him down but then he escapes. Blue and the others arrive with the other kids, those who survive, and the new kids. Ella and a few others leave the museum on a bus.
Ed arrives with his team. Brooke recognizes him. He tells them about Wormwood and they tell him Ella is gone. Ed brings back his group with Wormwood. Sam cries that his sister is gone.
Ella wakes up to find the dead bodies of all those who had went with her.
What I Liked:
Maxie; She’s doing her best. I hope she can be fully happy one day. I also hope she doesn’t die. She’s such a sweet person.
Blue; I don’t really care much for him, but he’s not a bad person. I do like how he cares for Maxie.
Achilleus; This guy just always makes me laugh. He really does care for his friends and is a massive inspiration to everyone.
Ollie; I’m so relieved that he realized Lettie was alive. I hope that he’s able to use his intellect and skill to help the whole of their people in the future.
Twisted Kids; These kids are hilarious, and then they also have interesting gifts that allow them to talk to each other and to the grown ups. When Fiona called Wormwood her father, I knew then that Wormwood is connected to the doctors. He is going to save them with his science. And the kids power had better be used later.
Ella; This poor sweet girl left right before her brother arrived. She can’t die. She can’t.
Brooke; This girl has been through so much. I hope she can get rest to heal from her injury, in full. Also, I hope she and Ed can talk.
Museum Kids; They are all so great and interesting. Seeing Justin trying to keep control, and then watching Einstein trying to figure out a cure, is interesting.
Paul; This kid was bit and affected. And he has lost himself in the disease. I can’t believe that he killed a girl and let free so many others. And then he went back to David. David is going to use him…
